LUNA SEA Gathers Artists for MUSIC AID FEST. ~FOR POST PANDEMIC~

LUNA SEA recently gathered an impressive line-up of artists for an online music festival titled MUSIC AID FEST.-FOR POST PANDEMIC- to support frontline and healthcare workers.

The music and entertainment industries in Japan have been particularly hard-hit by the coronavirus outbreak, but many artists throughout have continued to release content, hold live-streamed performances, and organize virtual events.

MUSIC AID FEST.-FOR POST PANDEMIC- delivered messages of hope, courage, and resilience to a world in the midst of a pandemic.

Inoran released the following statement on Facebook about the charity event
The spread of the new coronavirus is causing a heavy economic impact, including music, arts and entertainment industry.
However, the reason that we are still able to spend a life now is that all front line workers, including medical workers, are doing their duty on the front line even though they are having the risk of infection.
We hope that by bringing many musicians together, we will be able to send messages to people living in anxiety in this situation.
We also hope this project will be able to provide support to medical workers and front line workers.
A crowdfunding initiative through the READYFOR service accompanied the three-hour long broadcast. All proceeds were donated to the READYFOR COVID-19 Infection Prevention Fund which provides medical supplies to at-risk populations, protective equipment to medical workers, relief supplies (such as blankets and water) to various facilities (nursing homes, facilities for people with disabilities, healthcare centers, etc.), and funds research costs for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of COVID-19.

Many of the artists participating have previously performed at LUNATIC FEST. Others have close relationships with the members of LUNA SEA or simply felt compelled by this project to participate.

The festival included special messages from music producer Steve Lillywhite, Hitonari Tsuji, Atsushi Yanaka (Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra), and legendary X Japan drummer and pianist YOSHIKI.

Through a mixture of live online performances and remote recordings,

  • LUNA SEA
  • BREAKERZ
  • ELLEGARDEN
  • EXILE SHOKICHI
  • GLIM SPANKY
  • lynch.
  • MIYAVI
  • Maki Ohguro
  • SILENT SIREN
  • TAKURO (GLAY)
  • THE ORAL CIGARETTES
and many more all took part in the special charity event.

As stay-at-home orders are eased in Japan and other parts of the world, concerts will slowly begin to resume. If MUSIC AID FEST.-FOR POST PANDEMIC- is any indication of what is to come, the music industry will be at the forefront of innovating how audiences can engage with music, art, and entertainment media moving forward/
