"Rave contacts" or Black Light Reactive |
If you ever find yourself watching the PV of your favorite bands and appreciating the outfits of every member, I suggest that at some point, you look into the eyes of the members. What you will notice is that many artists in Visual Kei wear contacts to add an edge to their appearance, and it works. Colored contacts draw attention to themselves and can become something of an ultimate accessory to an outfit, or an easy way to separate the wearer from the crowd. Although, such a unique accessory can come with a bit of danger.
If you were to search for "colored contacts" online, you would find yourself coming across countless results and not all of them are what you are expecting them to be. Some have ridiculously high prices on them, others lack the necessary information to safely make a purchase. But fortunately, I have found a place that is trustworthy and reasonable, Exotic Lenses. I, personally, am pleased with the selection, prices, and information provided by them.
To the left are the pair that I bought from the selection that they offered at the New York Comic Con, these are Theatrical Lenses titled Fire. For obvious reasons. Actually being able to see the people behind the company helped me feel safe with purchasing them. I own multiple pairs in a multitude of designs and have made it a favorite activity of mine to mix and match pairs to find what accents my appearance, or simply for whatever will shock people the most.
The pair to the right are the Red Wolf design, also a theatrical Lense set. These are very similar, if not the exact same, as the contacts that can be seen on the vocalist of Biosphia in the Scream of Pain PV. While the video shows these in a close up of his eyes, they are easily distinguished throughout the entire PV and go perfectly with his outfit. Both of these pairs are priced at $54.99
For those that don't want an excessive design or an unnatural appearance, Exotic Lenses offers the Color Max lenses. Which all come in bold yet natural colors, to stand out from the crowd and not horrify those that are caught off guard. And for those that enjoy anime...
A Geass from Code Geass and
Kakashi's Sharingan from Naruto
Before making any decisions, read, remember, and understand the directions for wear and care. Keep track on how long you have had them, most contacts from Exotic Lenses are good for 1 year and remember to have a safe storage place with lense solution. If not taken care of properly, contacts can lead to some nasty infections among other things. This is not to deter you from getting them, I've worn different pairs for years and have never had a problem.
