DaizyStripper - Q&A Panel at Animethon

As usual I'm trying to cover the Fan Q&A. There are always some interesting questions asked, as well as different answers given. The Q&A at Animethon19 was no exception. Everyone had a lot of fun asking and answering questions. The fans were laughing and smiling. DaizyStripper had some really good answers and totally played it up for the fans as well. Did I mention fan service yet? Well, yes there were was some hugging going on and all around very cute moments. There was also a press conference that I was able to attend. The questions from this conference are included in this post. Oh! DaizyStripper was also on Breakfast Television (as previously posted), so don't forget to check it out! Who would you want to do a cover of?

Metallica, Mr. Big, Limp Bizkit and Incubus.


What is the connection between your music and your fashion style?

Yugiri - Our outfits are hand made. Whatever the image of our music is our costumes are made to suit that.


What is the difference between playing here and playing in Japan?

Yugiri - Canada is crazier!


Why did you start your alter ego Frantic Emriy?

Mayu - I don't know (laughs) !


Is it interesting having a large fan base overseas?

Nao - We are very happy!


What are your musical influences?

Kazami -  When we first started it was X-Japan that we took a lot of influence from. Now we don't really take influence from anyone, we make our own music.


What did you want to be as children?
Rei - Ninja.
Mayu - Altra man.
Yugiri - Super saiyan and do Kamehameha, if I practiced I think I could do it.
Kazami - I wanted to be a pilot


How were they chosen to do the opening of an anime? How does the process work?

Yugiri - Because Daizy Stripper was so amazing, they asked us to do it.


What is your favourite song to play live?

Mayu - "Stay Gold" that's my favourite song.
Nao - I like to play "Dandelion" and if you ask me why, it's because when we're playing in Japan the fans get naked.


How did you get your name?

Yugiri - It's going to be a little long. 'Daizy' has an image of like sparkling things. 'Stripper' is more mature and it sort of represents my feelings. We wanted to be a name where we were open and the fans were open. We created a space where we could be open together. That's why we decided on 'DaizyStripper'.


When do you guys usually sing the birthday song?

Yugiri - When we were on tours we would sing the birthday song when it was members birthdays.


Did you know each other before you started the band? Why did you start it?

Kazami - Mayu and I were in the same high school and we also knew Rei before we started. We were flirting.


This morning you tweeted a picture of coffee with a gift behind it. Did you get that from a fan? What other gifts have you gotten at Animetho19?

Yugiri - It probably wasn't coffee. It was a type of tea on rice. We've received a lot of gifts from fans but I think the best gift was the love we received from you. (all the fans awwwww'ed in this total cute moment)


Would you ever return for a Canadian tour?

All - Yes!
Yugiri - Of course!


Since you've been in Canada what has been your best experience here?

Rei - Of course it's the live and all the love I felt from the fans.
Mayu - The autograph session the day before yesterday. Yesterday's live and all the cute girls I've seen. I'm so happy! Thank you!
Yugiri - Well, of course I have fond memories of the live. I guess the best experience was when we were meeting fans, shaking hands, hugging and all that sexy stuff. I want to do that more.
Nao - Ah well, in terms of water I get to drink for free and it's a really cool thing.
Kazami - Of course I had fond memories of the live, but getting to meet all the fans, I started to feel like I don't want to go home. Everybody here today are the cutest I've seen so far.
Yugiri - Tell Kazami he should stay in Canada. (Yugiri to Kazami - Thank you for everything up till now)


What is your favourite hobby?

Kazami - Watching airplanes and researching about trains. (A fan shouts out 'Thomas the Train' and everyone laughs)
Nao - My favourite is pornography.
Yugiri - I like to play X-Box and on-line video games.
Mayu - My favourite hobby is Alcohol.
Rei - Anything that has to do with beauty products.


What kind of video games do you play?

Nao - Street Fighter
Mayu - Final Fantasy
Rei - I have a lot of games but....
Mayu - Yeah, he doesn't play games.


Who's pick is this? (one of the fans caught a pick and wanted to know who's it was)

Nao - It's mine!


What other instruments do you play other than the ones you play in the band?

Kazami - I play piano and drums on stage but I can also play trombone.
Nao - I don't know about other instruments but I also play with girls.
Yugiri - Instruments I'm really good at are the guitar and ladies.
Mayu - Wow really wow. I don't really know another instrument but I think that life is a good instrument.
Rei - What am I gonna say? (laughs) Well, if I'm asked that of course I'm going to have to say ladies.


Do you have an anime that you like?

Kazami - Sgt. Frog.
Nao - Evanglion.
Yugiri - Lupin.
Mayu - There's a lot, Naruto, One Piece for example.
Rei - One Piece. I like sports manga too.


You were stuck getting through customs and ended up missing the connection. What did you do during that wait time for the next flight?

Nao - We were flirting with girls.
Kazami - No no no! Nao was actually sleeping.  Rei and I were taking turns holding him.
Yugiri - So while they were sleeping Mayu and I were holding each other.


What made you decided to become musicians?
Yugiri - The music called to me.
Rei - He took the best answer being the first one. Music is like a rehabilitation for your heart.
Mayu - Music is very happy.
Nao - Because in music we have guitars.
Kazami - It's a little long. I get goosebumps when I listen to music. I want to give that feeling to the pleople that I play music for.


You're all very cute. What is your favourite beauty product?

Mayu - None, but if I fall in love I get even more beautiful.


Your behaviour and responses are confusing me. I wonder if you would be comfortable revealing to us your sexuality?

PLEASE NOTE: The only reason this question is in here is because is was legitimately asked and it was actually answered. HOWEVER, WE DO NOT condone these types of questions at Q&A's. These types of questions are very personal. As much as you would like to know the answer it is not polite to ask. (There are ways to indirectly ask but out right blatantly asking is a no no!) Congratulations on your 5 years. In thoughs 5 years how do you feel you've changed from when you were first starting out to where you are now?

All - Thank you!
Yugiri - Well there's little things but essentially we haven't changed at all. The dream that I had before has become bigger now.


Would you be willing to learn another/different instrument? And would you be willing to try out different gene's of music?

Nao - I don't really have any interest in playing other instruments. Playing another instrument would be like not being able to flirt with girls anymore.
Mayu - I want to play the drums. We should switch sometime (to Kazami)!
Rei - I want to play the violin.


Would you ever consider going out with a girl from Canada? (Once again pretty personal question but a lot more mild than the other one. This would be considered a grey area question.)

All: Yes!
Mayu - Just like music is an international thing, so is love.
Yugiri - If I merry a Canadian, our children would probably be really cute. (So basically, he won the heart of every girl in there.)


Out of all the concerts/lives and comment videos, is there anything you regret doing?

Yugiri - Well there's a lot of times we've had failures. Of course no live is going to be perfect but if you put it all together that's just how it is.


How long have each of you been playing the instrument that you play in the band?

Kazami - I started piano when I was 3. Ok, when did I start drums? I started drums about 10 years ago.
Nao - I started guitar around 14.
Yugiri - For me I started singing when I was a baby. My parents let me do it. I figure it just came to me.
Mayu - I started guitar around middle school.
Rei - I started bass around 17.


If you could cosplay any character who would it be?

Nao - Orian.
Kazami - Sailor Moon.
Yugiri - Sailor Jupiter.
Rei - Sebastion from Black Butler.


What are your different personality traits? And how old are you?

Yugiri - We're all about 17.


What band/artist would you like to work with in the future?

Nao - Metallica.
Yugiri - X-Japan - Hiro.
Mayu - The whole reason why I started playing guitar. L'arc en Ciel - Kent.
Rei - The reason why I started music and playing bass is the bassist from X-Japan.
Kazami - There are a lot of people I would like to work with but I would really like to work with Bon Jovi. I'd like to have him do a double vocal with Yugiri.


Well that is the last question and end of the Fan Q&A. I hope you guys enjoyed reading this. The panel was a lot of fun and the guys had a blast with the fans. Clearly, they were flirting a bit and being silly. Giving the fans some fan service, it was super cute. Overall, a very memorable moment for all visitors. Here are still a few pictures. This is my all time favourite! They are sharing the flag and hiding behind it.
