DaizyStripper @ Animethon19 - Concert Review

Oh my, where to start. What a night! Before the concert even began, people were lined up for hours. Some had been there for at least 2 hours. While waiting, the fans got to listen to the band warm up, screamed, cheered and supporting them as they went through their sound check. The members also responded back with either laughs or a "thank you" to their fans. A J-rock North staff member went up and down the line filming the energy and excitement of the people waiting. The video has not been posted and I'm not sure whether it will be. If it does and you look closely enough you may can see me!

I was able to slip in before the fans so I could find out where the best places to take photos were. After some confusion and some miss communications, the press knew where they could and couldn't be. AKA into the press pit I went! The doors were finally opened for the audience and I have to admit, it was a mad dash to get up front to the barrier. It's a talent to run down bleachers in a cosplay outfit. The floor was filling with fans. Some had decided to take a seat on the bleachers to enjoy the concert. The lights dimmed and I knew it was about to start so I slipped into the press pit.

Jrock North Promotions came on for a quick introduction and to get the fans riled up. And then, finally, Daizy Stripper took the stage while the Canadian National Anthem was playing in the background. Yugiri was holding the Canada flag, with Daizy Stripper written on it, as a cape. It was cute and made the crowd go wild. I actually felt honoured that they came on like that. Yugiri tossed the flag to Kazami and he set it up behind him, as you can see in the photos.

Then, without making their fans wait much longer, they began with song "Truth" and the fans went mad! It was like open a cage of wild animals. I have never seen an audience so excited and pumped up. "Juliet's Knife" closely followed after the first song. The screaming was so loud that it was deafening!

Yugiri gave the band a break by doing a small MC, starting of by telling us we were crazy. The fans laughed and were proud of it. Opening with a basic 'Hello!' and introducing themselves as Daizy Stripper, Yugiri then said "English is very difficult" (but he speaks it pretty well if you ask me). He went on:"We are very happy to see you. We come to Canada to love you and to love each other ok! So tonight we must love each other. Are you ready? Are you ready?! Setsubou no Freesia!"

 Yugiri

With the end of the first MC they got right into the next song "Setsubou no Freesia". Yugiri made the fans chanting with him 'hai! hai! hai!' and some fist pumping. The following songs were "Shikisai no Vivid", "Brilliant Days", "Dirty Starry" and "Kanojyo wa Emerald". There was also some fan service during the live. Yugiri was holding Nao at one point and kissed him! I think all the girls almost died. I can't remember which song this happened but I do have a picture of it. Then there was a break for another and longer MC.

 Fan Service: Yugiri and Nao

Yugiri:"Are you enjoying?" (fans scream yeah!) "Hey, sitting people. Are you enjoying?" Fans:"Yeah!!!" -"Really? Wow. Standing people quiet, Obaka Janai? Sitting people only 'whoooooo!'. Do you know Daizy Stripper?" More screams followed. "Standing people, are you enjoying? Umm, I cannot hear you. Maybe you want us, first time. So we introduce ourselves!" Even though Yugiri's grammar isn't perfect, he still tries, and that was more than enough for the audience!

He continued with the introduction: "On drums and keyboard: Kazami!" Kazami gives a little drum solo and takes the mic from Yugiri to scream his name a few times in which the fans return and he thanks them. Then it's Yugiri speaking again:"His name is Kazami!" And Kazami does another little drum solo.

 Kazami

Afterwards, Yugiri was moving on to Rei:"And on bass......on bass is Rei!" The whole audience screams Rei's name while he pretends like he can't hear them. "Hey, my name is Rei. Whats my name? Whats my name? Whats my name?! I love Canada. Thank you."

 Rei

Yugiri took the microphone again and went over to the next member:"That was Rei! And our guitar.....Nao!....Nao!"
Nao:"I love Canada. You are my sunshine!(hugs himself)." Yugiri pipes in with "Arigatou Nao! And our other guitar Mayu!......Mayu!!"

Nao
Mayu: "How are you enjoying? Thank you."

Mayu

Yugiri:"Thats Mayu! And vocals is me. My name is Yugiri! My name is Yugiri. Whats my name?! I can't hear you. I can't hear you! Ummm, a little bit I can't hear. MY NAME IS YUGIRI! So we are DaizyStripper! This is our first trip in Canada, but we already landed here. Everybody is very cute and men's are very....(He was trying to find the right word. The fans tried telling him handsome, but he couldn't get it so.......the fans got him to say "sexy" this instead.) Sexy? Sexy! Seated people are very sexy too." He went on to introduce the next song which was "Sousei no Aquarion" and from then, he did a few character impressions. "Everyone jump, jump, jump! Song is now in full swing." "Kiss You" and "Stay Gold" followed afterwards. Everyone was having a great time jumping and headbanging.

Yugiri

During "Stay Gold" Yugiri went over to Mayu and giving some fan service by kissing him. He then put his arm around the guitarist and patted him on the head. Also during the song, Yugiri started it off by stepping over the press pit gap onto the railing to shake some fan's hands. Nao and Mayu went back to back and rocked out their guitars. At the end of the song, Rei, Nao and Mayu tossed their picks to the fans and Kazami threw his drum sticks as they were exiting the stage. Well.....it seemed to be over now.....or is it not? Of course it's not! After some cheering and chanting from the fans, DaizyStripper came back for an encore!

Fan Service #2: Yugiri and Mayu

They all came back onstage, Yugiri did another mini MC and everyone started chanting "Daizy" while energetically Yugiri jumped to the screams. "You are all very cute. You are so crazy. Our last song is 'Dandelion', but we have guitar problem (laughs) omg (he literally said "o""m""g")!" Mayu was having problems with the amp and they were trying to fix it. Meanwhile, the fans were bored, so they started filling the void and singing "Yugiri" when Kazami came in with a drum beat. Then they went to Kazami and started chanting "Kazami". Once again, the drummer obliged us with a marching beat to go along as Yugiri did. Well, once you start you gotta keep going so next was Rei! Everyone started to scream Rei's name, still accompanied by Kazami's drums. Last one was Nao's name, until Yugiri turned around and told us:"Shut up! Shut up you baby!" He didn't say this in a mean way though. Mayu then had fixed the problem and they finally were ready for the last song. "So this is our last song 'Dandelion'."  Kazami gave the opening beats and the song began. During the last minutes of the show, they all stepped over onto the barrier to shook people's hands. Everyone was all into the song and giving it everything they had.

Overall it was an amazing concert! The band had a lot of fun with the fans and interacted with us. At the same time, the fans had a lot of fun rocking out and cheering for DaizyStripper. We made lots of fantastic memories that will last a life time. I hope you enjoyed the pictures of the concert. Also, there was a fan who recorded some songs of the concert, so check her YouTube channel @ pandamastaa. If you live in North America, please keep checking on J-rock North Promotions for future jrock concerts!
