It seems as though after everything JILLS BLUE ROSES has
been through, with losing and gaining members, they are finally getting down to
business with promoting their first mini album!
“The Black Rose” PV is one of those videos that has no plot
to it. This PV solely is about the band and does the job of introducing
everyone. To tell the truth, it kind of reminds me of some of Versailles’ PVs,
showing close ups of the band members and all their glory. The cool part that
is a first for me is that, this video is mixed with your usual music video
footage, but also some live footage. Perhaps the reason for that is because of
the band’s trouble of keeping a lineup, they added their newer member’s in with
the live footage. Either way, the overall of this PV is pretty cool.
So the song is wicked! When it starts off it has a very epic
intro, then when you hear the lyrics is sounds like it’s going to be from the
lighter side of visual kei. However, as the song goes on, you start hearing the
lower minor end, making the song switch between light and dark. That’s a
characteristic people’s ears can enjoy for sure. Throughout the song they keep
up with the transitions, and they even slow down the song at around three minutes
before going back into the initial lower end riff of the song and then a small
breakdown with the lower end. I think what I respect the most about this song
is that it keeps you listening, like music should do.
This song has a lot of high end with the synth and effects within the song, along with the lead guitar overlapping with the songs melody. The lower end only comes out when the song moves to its darker tone. Along with the darker tone come the singers screaming. Usually because of my music taste, I can compare bands that have similar types of screaming. This band, I cannot think of another screamer that sounds like Maya. He is one of the few that is lucky to have something so unique, since that is something really hard to come by in music.

Applaud the guys for keeping their stuff together, and give
JILL’S some love! Let’s hope these guys can make it, and give us a great first
album!
