First review for a new band! LOCUS had debuted earlier this
year, and then let out their first demo single “Kidnapping.” Now they have come
out with a PV for this first demo song “Kidnapping”.
So to warn people now, do not watch this video if you do not
like flashing lights nor have epilepsy. This PV is almost as bad as Metallica’s
Enter Sandman MV. Throughout the hold video there is flashing lights and
different light effects that pretty much can bother the eyes. The video behind
the effects though, is not your theatrical MV. The PV is nothing but LOCUS
rocking a white empty room, not a bad thing for a first PV, so you can get to
know the band and their stage presence.
The song, I enjoyed! I couldn’t help but get the Rentrer en
Soi feel from them, but I think that is because of some small parts within the
song where the vocalist’s, Ayame, voice can match Satsuki’s singing and
screaming.
The song starts out with a small slow easing intro with the drums and the lead guitar at a low dark tone.
Then their singer Ayame, starts the song with the first part of their chorus before going into an epic little break where the band goes into a cool headbanging session. After, the song slows down a bit with all of the band playing. The rhythm guitar and bass are at a low tone while the lead and drums bring in the higher tones. The lead guitar is doing some light picking and the drums are mostly focusing on the high hat and snare. At the end of the first verse the band goes into a screaming verse along with more headbanging then reverting back to the slow pace from before.
After going to the chorus a second time, at 2:08 the band goes into another break then, into a slow grooving solo where the band plays behind it but by just striking chords and straining them.
As for the ending, the band goes to the bridge and chorus again where the break after the chorus falls in once again for the last time and letting the last chord ring out.

For a demo single, this song is pretty good. It’s got great
tempo changes throughout the song that can keep your ears interested, but it’s
still pretty simple with a chorus – verse – chorus outline for the song. If you
like some pretty heavy stuff you should be able to enjoy this band and respect
their first single for being newbies.
Support LOCUS, and let see what more this band can pour out!
