REVIEW: Daizystripper - Missing

Written Review:

Just what's 'missing' of them? I can safely tell you that there is nothing! Daizystripper has definitely done a great job by attaining 15th on the Oricon Single Charts during their first week of release! This song was composed and written by Kazami and was far different from their usual style, in which they are all clad in black. Apart from that, this song gives a sad and somewhat touching kind of feeling. Being a love song, they have definitely mixed it well with rock. Especially the black and white music video, which can easily bring the ambience of the situation to the audience even without understanding the lyrics.

Why do I say that? If you actually know the lyrics, this song describes a lovesick guy who misses his girlfriend badly and in his mind and heart he is wishing very hard that she will return to his side. I will now split the song into three parts(Part A,B,C) for easier reference. Part A of the song shows the helplessness he had and also many questions that he hope she will give an answer to. He even pleads the deities to help him to stop her from leaving. That is one aspect in which I would not actually expect to be placed in the song. He clearly knows that it would never happen, and he does not want to say goodbye at all. So in general, what I feel is that he really, really is obsessed with this girl and the questions he asked actually made me feel sad too.

Part B of the song further explains that it has already been 6 months since their breakup and even after knowing that there is another person that is dear to the female protagonist, he still wished that the past times would come back. It also shows the pain and misery he had over this period due to the possible self-mutilation (self-harm) he could have created. It ended before the chorus, displaying that he could no longer hold on anymore. For this part of the song, I could probably understand the misery he is going through, but one thing I feel is wrong for such situations is the 'cuts and bruises' part. I mean, even listening to such songs could lead to copycat acts for which I think no one wants to see somebody inflicting pain to himself or herself right? What does "holding on" mean? Suicide? No...

And last is Part C of the song! Here's the twist. After the problems that happened in Part B, he finally starts to wake up from this situation though he was still in love her. His final wish was be that she would at least keep him in her heart. That was such a perfect ending. I mean, you wouldn't want somebody dear to you to ever forget you, right? If you have noticed, close to this part of the song, the video began to show some colors! This links well with the awakening part. They have definitely thought it all well for this single.

The conclusion? Next time, for anyone of you listening to this right now that may fall into this situation: Please listen to this song when it comes and listen to it in full! Don't ever, ever commit stupid acts over a failed relationship. It's not worth it. BUT. This single is worth the purchase! Now all of us must be so excited for 'uso to kagerou'!

As for the other track coupled in this single, '[eating apple]'... What a name... When I first listened to this song, I actually expected Yugiri to start rapping or something. Unfortunately, he didn't, but still a great song to fit with 'Missing'. The instrumentals are really good for this track. Do go check the single out, by all means!

Lastly, enjoy the songs!
