After the news of Merjibray coming out with three new single
releases, and then seeing that their guitarist, Mia, joined the social network
Tumblr. Merjibray released their full PV for Sadisgate not too short after.
This PV has a dark sense to it, sadistic, actually. In the
room the band is in, the dummer is in a cage, the whole band decked out in
leather, and whips and chains hanging down from the walls. Even if the
atmosphere may be sadistic; the PV doesn’t show much of anything disturbing.
The band leaves that tone up to their song, leaving the band to show their
stage presence and they do a good job of portraying their theme of the song.
This song is a very head bang worthy song. Rhythmically fast
and heavy in some parts, and over all dark, the song fits the theme of the PV
well. It starts out slow before going into a head bang rhythm and starting the
first verse. The first verse has this choppy strumming type that makes you want
more of that faster pace that plays a few more times later in the song. During
the chorus, is when there is a slow down, and it’s got this creepy feeling to
it. Sounds like you can imagine someone crawling after you in a strange form.
This song is so well put together it is very hard to pick
any instrument that shines the most. All the instruments in this song
contributed in making this song awesome to listen to. The guitar gave two
wicked solos, the bass was a little hidden but when it was slapped pulled
through the mix wonderfully, the drums held the lower end with some insane
double bass, and then the vocals were so unique and dynamic it was interesting.
One of the main comments that have been said about this song though, is that it
is missing low end. This is true in a way but only at the main riff parts of
the song, and the band compensates very well. The guitar is playing parts that
are mostly high end, while the bass usually tends to the low end but with the
bassist slapping the strings instead of strumming puts the bass towards the mid
range. So the only instrument that is holding the lower end is the double bass
from the drums during the main riff. Then during the rest of the song the
guitar and bass hold the lower end.
Don’t forget to give some love to Mia on Tumblr. if you
haven’t, and for those of you overseas, check out Mejibray’s AVENGED BLAZE
CIRCUIT Tour dates to see if you can witness the epicness of this song!
I actually thought Sadisgate was a step down from their previous releases. Tsuzu's voice was weak, as was Meto's drumming when I really expected more from both of them. I've noticed that Koichi's skills never disappoint since the bass lines were basically perfect. Koichi shone in this one. MiA didnt do a bad job.
ReplyDeleteI hope Tsuzu and Meto redeem themselves with Emily.
