REVIEW: GOTCHAROCKA - Hydrag PV

After hearing rumors of Vidoll’s ex singer Jui starting a new band, then finally hearing him make an official announcement earlier this year, GOTCHAROCKA now has their first PV out. The song is called Hydrag, and you can find off of GOTCHAROCKA’s first nationwide single, Hydrag.

This song is a major head bang song without the need of the sound of the song having to be incredibly dark. The whole feel of this song is nothing but to portray some major confusion and chaos. The PV shows some chaos of a waiter having a hard time at his job, showing the PV character breaking plates and dropping food.
Later on you end up seeing that the waiter was doing this all on purpose.
This kind of tone for the music is put with the genre of pure heavy metal maybe even melodic metal. The song even tends to have different speeds within the song, without forgetting the usual poppy section.

The song starts off with an intro from the drums before the guitar comes in to go into the first verse. Throughout the first verse the band stays in a very steady beat until 43 seconds in and changes into the bridge of the song. This part of the song is one of the main parts that give the song its chaotic feel. The guitars have this battling minor scale they are all doing while the drums and pulling out blast beats. The poppy section of the song is no other than the chorus. A great change from something so speed heavy to something  a little toned down, with a bit of a groove. Since it is toned down you do nothing but listen to Jui’s voice to focus on his lyrics.

What are the big instruments in this song? It is hard to pick, but it seems that the main instruments in the song are the guitars this time! Throughout the whole song the guitars seem to stand out more than anything due to their different sound in different sections. Both of the guitars had a very unique part and they were both different from each other. They only came back together during that epic chaotic bridge part, then blended well during the chorus to show that they mix well together.

Jui and Jun’s new band seems to be doing well for their first song. Not to mention the teaser within the PV! Hearing this little taste of what may be the band’s 2nd PV sounds like it belongs well with Hydrag. Let’s hope the band can give us a good treat.
