REVIEW: BORN - Blasted Animals PV

Born has been on fire lately with all of the PV's they have put out the past year! The band also seems to have no problem changing from the various looks they have had. This song is definitely easy to like without worrying so much of how hardcore it looks.

This PV has some crazy emotion literally as a theme. The PV has cut scenes with various people that seem like they are about to go completely insane. Ryoga, Born's vocalist, also seems to have no trouble at all contributing to this metal vibe as he stands in front of the camera. It explains the reason for the different tempos as well. You either fight for give into your metal animal instincts. Meaning that the slower tempo is “feeling alright” and the melodic riff is “going insane.”

This song is a bit of a mix between melodic and incredibly grooving. Even when the setting and the theme of the PV makes it seem like Born went hardcore. The song starts off with what sounds like an electric drum kit then comes in the guitars with heavy strumming beat with the lead guitar having a melodic riff on top. As the drums are reverted back to normal the first verse comes in.

Throughout the song, Born did a great job of switching tempos smoothly. That is what makes this song so fun to listen to, and it’s where the song’s tone changes from melodic to grooving and back. The biggest instruments that stand out in this song seem to be the drums and the lead guitar. The drums have this very transient snare that is able to crash through all of the rest of the band. The lead guitar on the other hand has this continuous melodic riff then also has his own solo at 2:10. The solo has this kind of light feeling. It’s not a very dark type of solo. Perhaps the solo has the same feeling as what the PV is trying to portray.

Since the song has a pretty simple structure and doesn't change too drastically, let's see what Born will throw at us the next time they come around!
