NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST (Nokubura) took fans by surprise with a sudden announcement that the band would resume activities this year! Kicking off their comeback, Nokubura dropped a brand new single called Life is Once. The release of a full visualizer on YouTube accompanied the song's debut.
Life is Once encompasses the band's resolve to continue to push forward—overcoming the adversity that has enveloped the band in recent years. Following the departure of both of the band's guitarists in 2018, the band made a short-lived comeback last year—signing with DC MAVERICK GROUP. The band was unfortunately forced to pause activities again after an incident prompted their replacement guitarist, Lin, to leave the group. But now they are back! With a new guitarist who has yet to be revealed.
The single was engineered, mixed, and mastered by vocalist Hiro with music, arrangement, and programming by bassist Masa. As is characteristic of NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST's music, the freely-changing rhythm of the drums interplay with the heavy bass and precise shredding the guitar to elevate the deep, melodious vocals.
Life is Once moves seamlessly from hard, aggressive phrases laced with screams and growls to melodic ones—with a few moments where Hiro raps. It is the execution of this fusion of styles that highlights the care with which this new track was produced.
A full announcement from the band regarding the details of their comeback is available on their website in English. It includes a statement from Gekirock's Akira Yonezawa who shares his opinions on Life is Once and calls Nokubura a "treasure in Japan’s heavy music scene." The band urges everyone to "Please first take a listen to this song and do look forward to the band’s future activities."
Life is Once was released on May 29th for download on iTunes and streaming on Apple Music. It will be available on other streaming platforms beginning June 8th.
