We've got an exciting status update on the new X JAPAN album! You may remember that we had previously reported that Marilyn Manson, who appeared on stage with X JAPAN for a special performance at Coachella last month, was working on a song with YOSHIKI (read it here). Well, it turns out that he's now going to make an appearance on the band's new album!
YOSHIKI dropped this info this in an interview with Consequence of Sound (read it here), but that's not all! He gave more details on the status and nature of the band's first new album in 22 years, starting with that it's almost finished! "Recording’s done pretty much, we just have to mix it," he said, adding that the new album is going to be "pretty edgy" and "eclectic". He's hopeful (and "pretty confident") that the album, which will cover a broad range of sounds, will bring rock into mainstream recognition once again.
YOSHIKI even made a point of reassuring fans by saying: "I know it’s a long time, but when you listen to the sound you’ll understand why it took that long." He also made a point of describing the ambitions of the album: "99% of the songs are in English and it’s our first record targeting a worldwide audience." Looks like X JAPAN will be aiming high with this long-awaited release!
