FASHION: Hair Recovery: Taking Care of Your Glam VK 'Do

We all want fabulous hair, but are you willing to go that extra mile to achieve it? Here is a list of tips to care and repair whether you've been styling for years or just did your first colour and/or styling job!

With all that backcombing and colouring, your hair is bound to suffer a lot of cuticle damage which can lead to split ends! Be sure to carefully brush out your teasing and, depending on the frequency of your styling, be sure to deep condition weekly to bi-weekly and have a good leave-in conditioner for everyday or every other day! Coconut oil an excellent natural alternative to touch up dry ends and, for serious damage, here are some products I recommend:

Tresemme Split Remedy; MOTIONS CPR - both are leave in conditioners!

Mystic Divine Deep conditioner

For those that use heat tools, remember to clean them! I know I have trouble with this myself, but I use isopropyl alcohol to wipe off the plates of my flat iron as well as making sure there isn't any dust collecting in the fan of my blow dryer! Wipe off your curling irons too! Hair spray and heat protectant can build up on the tools and really affects efficacy. Your blow dryer runs risk of shorting out with dust backed up in there too as all that caked up gunk can block the fan!!

Finally, remember to use heat protectant whenever you are styling your hair with hot tools. Blow drying and 'blow-outs' are great ways to get volume and style without the direct heat and pressure of flat iron/curling iron plates, but you still have to protect your locks from the heat! Silk Elements and Beyond the Zone have some of my favourite products for the job! This particular Beyond the Zone product is a protectant and mousse so it adds volume when you blow dry while keeping your hair safe!

Hope these tips are helpful! Keep on rockin' that great hair!
