After announcing news of the band’s new single in August,
then being busy with their web show that is now on Niconico Douga, the PV for
Mantenrou Opera’s Gloria, was released in late September.
Despite this song’s galloping melodic it sounds like this
song could be an opening for an anime. It has a crazy mix of symphonic metal
with a sprinkle of keyboards in it, so symphonic mixed with electronic if you
will. The keyboard melody is mesmerizing. It just contributes more to the mix
of beauty and darkness.
The PV seems to reflect on this interesting mix as well. The setting is taken
place in a Renaissance time period but has certain props that one would usually
see in the future or present. Another example of this mix is when they have the
section of the band playing in this large dark hall, but this hall looks like
is has stars in it. The light orbs are flowing all around the band.
One of the main reasons why this song could be an opening
for an anime is because the song has this feeling of triumph. Almost the same
feeling of an old epic choir song that just moves you. There is such an intense
sense of passion in this song it’s insane.
So for the instruments that stand out in this song, would have to be the vocalist and the keyboard. Even if this song is very driving thanks to the guitars, bass, and drums. The main two instruments that pushed this song to its best were the vocals and keyboards. The vocalist this band has, is so unique and different to the point where no other singer could sound like him, his style of singing would be hard to mimic. From his natural vibrato to his smooth bleating for his highs, is what makes him so different and the song that much better. The vocals are where most of the passion and tone for this song is. The keys on the other hand don’t really make this song unique in the sense of passion, but to where this song is made unique in the sense of sound and tone. If this song was recorded without the keyboard, this sound would be totally different. It would be just like the usual metal song and the guitars would have to be the main instruments in the mix to make the song different from the other jrock bands that are putting out songs similar. Call it the cherry on top! The keyboard is also what pulls the song into the symphonic metal genre. At the beginning of the song you hear the keys in the back of the mix that sounds almost like an organ. Later on when the keyboard has his solo it changes to match the theme of the song, pulling it into this modern sound that give ears a nice break before bringing in the heaviness again.

Give the song a try and see what feelings come to
mind. Also, get ready for Matenrou Opera’s new single that is supposed to come
out December 5th called, “Innovative Symphonia.”
