Designer Kei: Punk Rave

Every fan of Visual Kei, at some point in time, had two questions that go through their mind. Those questions are normally along the lines of "Where do they get their clothes?" and "Where can I get clothes like that". Punk Rave, is that place. With a large selection of clothes that are exactly what appeals to the eye of a Visual Kei fan and more, I found myself wondering if some of my favorite artists had shopped at Punk Rave and found the exact look that they were searching for, just like I did. At one point, I was convinced that I actually saw some of these clothes in PV's of bands. But that's enough about what I had seen, it's best if you see it for yourself.

Punk Rave leans towards the darker and Gothic side of clothing, having the clothing largely in darker, muted colors on an assortment of fabrics. In the above picture, nine women all model different outfits created by Punk Rave, and all nine of them look amazing with an individual style that can not be duplicated by any other brand. As we all know, in Visual Kei, individuality is very important. With Punk Rave, you are given a unique look that is reminiscent of the style and music we all love, but it looks nothing close to cosplay. For example, in the above picture, the model in the bottom right shows off a casual style that is unlike the others. But below to the left, there is a cute gothic lolita outfit and to the right are two outfits that hold a more urban vibe to them.

The pants to the right are called the Pantalon Punk Gothique, and are probably some of the coolest pants you will ever see. The eight straps down the side of the legs draw a considerable anount of attention and the suspenders that hang down from the waist make these pants alone enough for a good look. Fortunately, Punk Rave has a large list of clothing as cool as these, and many other tops, jackets, and blazers to match these for a shocking look that will stand out when in a crowd.

When I see a lot of these clothes, I tend to think about the band Exist Trace and that inspires me to look further and see what matching outfits can be created from mixing different things on Punk Rave and clothes that are already in my own wardrobe. Also, even though the models are female, many of the clothes are classified under unisex and can be fashionably worn by men that also want show off. Even more so, Punk Rave has a "Big Size" section for those with more curved or thicker body types. I have yet to find other brands that do the same.

Punk Rave is not another wallet emptying brand, the clothes are reasonably priced and you pay the exact amount you would expect to for the like. But for those that still look for deals, Punk Rave regularly holds specials on certain things. Also, the site has a interesting point system. For example, for purchasing the coat to the right, that earns you 6 points. Those 6 points can be converted into a voucher for $4.05, which means that by purchasing the look you want, you could earn more things. A win-win deal.
