FASHION: Amai Furiku? 18

Amai Furiku?
-The sweet freak's gui
de to Japanese fashion

The weather outside may be frightful, but the things I have in store for you this month are delightful!
With the Christmas season closing in fast this year, I'll be covering some stocking fillers and winter warmers for you to snuggle up with this Christmas. For those of you who may be on a tighter budget, it might seem daunting trying to find reasonably priced Japanese fashion items in your country, but have no fear! These suggestions should cover all bases, and leave you with plenty of change to spare.

First of all, I would suggest visiting local supplies stores, and investing in studs, spikes, and chains. In good craft stores, you'll also be able to find fun fur, and lots of different laces. Using these supplies, you can easily customise any item, and give it as a gift. I'd particularly recommend one size fits all items such as cheap bags, phone cases, and oversized t-shirts.

I'd also recommend having a look at the clothing sales page over at CD Japan- they currently have some reduced Sex Pot Revenge wristbands for under 1000yen, amongst a few other cheaper items.

Be quick though, stocks are super limited!

If none of those ideas would suit you or your friends, head to Bodyline.
Here you can find yourself some cheap, cute lolita items, punk styled items, and even a little cosplay. With their current shipping offer ($5 airmail anywhere in the world), you can't miss out on this chance to get yourself some cute items just in time for the festive season, especially with their range of super sickly sweet festive cosplay.

They also have plenty of gothic wares that would be good for goth lolis, cosplayers, and vk kids alike! One of my favourites is this horn headband, and at only $7, is a great bargain, and will make a brilliant gift for that little devil in your life!

If you have a little more in your Christmas budget, you might consider getting some slightly more obscure items, using a shipping service, or a combination of shopping service and auction site.

Some of my favourite brands (6%doki doki, Sixh, Listen Flavor...) don't ship to the UK, so finding people in the west who are selling items 2nd hand, or using a shopping service is the only alternative.

Here are some great items that have come out recently!

The bat jumper from Listen Flavor (which I have just ordered for myself!), available from CD Japan.

Fans of LM.C will be ecstatic to receive items from Groucho (although this would be leaning far toward the very expensive end of the scale!)

We're Just Wonderholic shirt, with leopard print, 16,800 yen/$215/£135

Groucho padlock necklace, reminiscent of the one worn by Sid Vicious, 3150yen/$40/£25

As for 2nd hand items, or auction sites, the recommended ones are Yahoo! Auctions, MBOK, Closet Child, and Fururun. Every now and then, if you're lucky, you can also find some good items on western Ebay sites.

Now, for winter warmers! A recent trend in lolita has been to wear fur boleros and shawls, and ebay has been a goldmine for them! They're also really really easy to make yourself- all you need is some fun fur in your chosen colour, a needle and thread, some lace, or other fabric to make a tie, and any other decoration! Cut the fur into your desired shape, double it up, sew inside out, turn back the right way, sew up the last edge, add your ties, and you have a shawl!

If you don't quite have time, or effort, Cyberdog has recently begun stocking crazy coloured fur shawls!

They are available in a range of colours, from black, to bright yellow. The black one is great for villainous, and dark, gothy looks, and the brighter ones such as the pink and yellow, are great for OTT decora revamp looks. At only £28, these are a great cosy addition to any wardrobe!

Running with the theme of fur, Cyberdog also stocks these amazingly soft, and cuddly hats, called Yeti hats! Again, in a great range of colours, and great for those following a more cyber style, similar to Sisen.

Here is the gorgeous Amie modelling the pink Yeti hat. The fur is so fuzzy and soft, and the hat is lined with a ridiculously cosy fleece. These are only £15!

Cyberdog has plenty of other lovely bright and warm things for winter, so please take a look! Free shipping for international orders over £70, and free shipping for UK orders over £50.
Gyaru and gyaruo may find themselves lusting after these fluffy kitty hats! This particular one is by Tsubasa Masuwaka, so costs a fair amount, but many highstreet shops, and even marketstalls stock similar ones!

This hat is available from 'Makiko Online Shop' and costs $89, but I have seen similar ones in stores such as H&M, Primark, and New Look for less than $45/£30.

There are some full outfit ideas on the Kera Shop page here, and of all the items, my favourites would have to be these HELLCATPUNKS earmuffs
knocked down to only 1200yen/$15/£10!

And also, these Algonquins arm/hand warmers. They come in two colours, and will serve well in the colder months!

These cost a little more, but are still reduced, at 3430yen/$43/£28

For other warm items, try heading to your nearest charity shop, cheap highstreet store, or thrift shop, and find some customisable jumpers! There are plenty of places to buy cheap, retro, or generally awful jumpers and cardigans that can be easily transformed with a few snips here and there~
I wish you all a Merry Christmas, and I will see you all again in the New Year! Lets hope you've all been good, so that Santa can bring you some of these goodies~ See you next year!
