So, I'm sure you have all heard of her by now, but I wanted to do a feature this month on Kyary Pamyu Pamyu! The latest teen model, singer, designer sensation is now a mascot for Harajuku, and wants to spread Harajuku fashions around the world in a crazy, cute, yet sensible and levelheaded manner.

Kyary is only 18 years old, and is already becoming a household name around the world. Her step into the spotlight began when she started appearing in street fashion magazines Kera, and Zipper, first in street snap sections, working her way up to reader model status, and now even featuring on the covers of the magazines!

Following her modelling, she met Yasutaka Nakata of Capsule, who wanted to make an album with her. This is from where PONPONPON was born, and the genius behind 6%dokidoki, Sebastian Masuda, was appointed as the video's director. In an interview with OtakuVerseZero, Sebastian said that all of the items in the video are in fact personal effects that he has gathered over the years.
Kyary said that pretty much all of the video was ad libbed, and so she really got to show off her fun personality, which is what makes her so appealing.

Kyary works closely with many Tokyo based stores, such as Spinns, department store Parco, and 6%dokidoki, and is often seen wearing items from the stores.

Her fun nature means that her blog is full of cute and funny photos of her dressing up antics, whether for daily wear, or for magazine shoots.

Kyary's very individual style has caught on across the globe, with girls wanting to dress, act, and look just like her. This meteoric rise to fame is maybe a little much for an 18 year old, but she always appears very sensible and well spoken, contrary to her crazy outfits!

Apart from her features in fashion magazines, she also has her own radio show and has made many tv appearances within Japan, and PONPONPON even made it onto MTV in America!

She has said in many interviews that she wishes to travel around the world, and I can't wait for her to do so! I wonder if her style will change with each new place that she visits, or if she will stay a Harujuku-ite through and through...?

You'll be able to catch Kyary in most issues of Kera and Zipper these days, as well as some other Japanese fashion magazines. Each issue, she is able to portray herself, but in different styles, all pertaining to the super cute, hyper colourful, and mega crazy Harajuku style that the world has come to love.

Now, onto our 2nd feature for this month. Carrying on with the theme of Kyary, eyeballs featured a lot in the video for PONPONPON, and she is also often seen wearing items and jewellery with eyeball motifs on them.

The Takashi Murakami eyeballs that featured in the video are iconic, and instantly recognisable.

The eyeball fashion has caught on amongst many different segments of J-Fashion, as well as many others overseas.

The main brand where you can find these items is Kreepsville 666, a western brand, focussed on creepy, cute, and fun clothing and accessories.
Here we have an eyeball bracelet- plastic bloodshot eyeballs would not usually be seen as cute, or even as everyday wear, surely it's more a Halloween thing? Well, Kreepsville create these items for everyday fashion, and people love it!

Here we have an eyeball necklace in a similar style to the bracelet. Chunky bead necklaces were recently very popular and fashionable, and Kreepsville 666 takes this to a new level, and brings it back into a more "alternative" vein by using eyeballs rather than plain plastic beads.

These shiny hairbands and hairslides featuring eyes in the middle have gotten very popular in Japan of late. You may put it down to Kyary (see that she is wearing them in her hair in many shots), but it has become such a popular style, it's quite hard to pinpoint where it originally emerged from!

There are even eyeball shaped handbags, which have also been spotted around Japan. The vibrant colour, and the almost anime like eye itself, is what I think really appeals to J-Fashion fans.

This eyeball ring is perfect if you want to add a subtly touch of Harajuku to your outfit! Very simple, and not too spooky!

On TokyoFashion.com, I have also noticed people wearing other eyeball items, such as this girl with her eyeball earrings.

And this girl with an eyeball beret!

To purchase any of the Kreepsville 666 items featured, visit their site here!
For more information on the Tokyo Fashion images, click through on the images for the full posts on their site.

If you can't get hold of any of the eyeball items featured, or maybe you want something different, you can always customise your own items! It would be really easy to make an eyeball motif such as on the beret above, with a few pieces of felt, and it would only cost a few dollars/pounds!

Good luck with your creepy cute adventures everybody!
