9GOATS BLACK OUT have graced the Nagoya Kei genre since late 2007 and offered a very ambient and easy-listening style fuelled by powerful lyrics and well-orchestrated instruments. Their first full-length album, released in 2010, showcases the band’s range and sound and is titled “Tanatos”.

Keyboard sounds, particularly, play an important role in the sounds of the album and 9GOATS in general and help set the mood for each of the songs. However, the album progresses into heavier, louder sounds with Ryo even moving into growls before toning it back down for the ending.
The themes of the album seem to be loss and love. This is quite noticeable in “Heaven”, “Reminisce” and “Negai”. The song “Belzebuth” has a somewhat sex appeal in the flow of the music. Overall, the album has a great pace and the songs fit together nicely. There are no moments when you will suddenly get a dramatically different style after a song which shows great choreography in the production.
