REVIEW: Dir en grey – Different Sense

Back once more from the depths of their dark and powerful souls, Dir en grey brings us yet another emotive and deep offering as we eagerly await the new album coming out in August. To tide us over, their latest offering, “Different Sense”, brings back all the growls and well-executed instrumentals we are use to from the band as well as something more as the band mature even further.

Track List
  1. Different Sense
  2. Tsumi to kisei
  3. Red Soil(Live)
Pushing their music further to the brinks of extremity, the band offer death growls, beautiful, operatic vocals and some of their most aggressive and dark instrumentals so far. This, combined with tempo and mood changes mid-track, make for a very interesting single to listen to and one which will keep you on the edge of your seat.
This is the one band which continues to evolve and break down and boundaries they had once before. Fans will not be disappointed with the release as it tests each and every limit you possess and brings you into a realm of madness you thought you’d reached through Uroboros and beyond. But, wonderfully, we were all mistaken and the band have gone deeper and darker as they stated they would.
As you are once again pulled further under, the first track will offer you a mix of deep growls and some nice singing to tide you over. But after that amazing piece of work, you cannot return as death growls abound in the second and last new track on the single. Finally, you are brought back to reality as a familiar track is given to you in live format.
The title track of this single had a PV shot which we will likely be posting sometime in the nearby future. The single is available to purchase from the iTunes store as well as CDJapan. Furthermore, you can pre-order your copy of Dum Spiro Spero at The Omega Order or, also, CDJapan.
