FASHION: Amai Furiku? 12 - 1 year anniversary

Amai Furiku?
-The sweet freak's guide to VK fashion

We have made it to 1 year! Yay! So, I'm pretty sure after a year of seeing my face, you're pretty bored, so I thought I'd take the chance to feature some of my favourite western, Japanese inspired fashion lovers.
Some are, friends, readers, acquaintances and internet celebrities, and they've shared with me some of their favourite outfits, and the things that inspire them most.
I hope that you enjoy this month's bumper edition, and as always, click the images to see them bigger!

First we have Jasmine. She's got an incredibly unique style as she mixes and matches branded items with offbrand and handmade items. She's cute, colourful and wonderfully clever, with science being one of her biggest passions.

"Well, I'm Jasmine Green and I love all things colourful, fuzzy and crafty. I'm all about DIY fashion and spend most of my time modding or sewing clothing to my tastes (while talking to my tarantulas). When putting together outfits, I aim for bright, clashing colours and use patterns and themes which are influenced by science, creepy crawlies and horror. But when I do buy clothes, or need a bit of inspiration, my favourite Japanese fashion brands are Listen Flavor, 6%Dokidoki & Angelic Pretty (despite never wearing lolita)."

Next we have the well famed, but rather secretive Izzi, or as you may otherwise know her, Butterfly Elf. Manager of Cyberdog Camden and all round cutie, her style is an amazing mash up of cyber, fairy kei and deco styles. I don't think I've ever seen anyone else pull of pastels and neon cyber brights together as well as her!

You may also recognise her from being part of the London 6%DokiDoki visit, appearing on the tv show Snog, Marry, Avoid? and her few years spent as part of the Suicide Girls. Please check out her tumblr page to see more cute photos of her, and images of her inspirations.

Next, we have a couple of friends of mine, Cookie and Kunoichi. These girls are only young, but are very mature, and sweet. Their styles are very different from on another, with Cookie looking very fairy kei, and Kunoichi being more into lolita styles.

Cookie's petite frame means that she can easily pull of the shiny leggings and jumper combos, and I always love how her brightly coloured hair contrasts so well with the pale, pastel shades of her outfits. Super cute!

Kunoichi's every changing hair is great; it means she can mix and match her outfits and hair to co-ordinate perfectly. I love her new pastel wig from Gothic Lolita Wigs USA- the fringe frames her face beautifully!

"Our looks are heavily based around Japanese Street Fashion, we adore the unique, eye catching and creative styles and use elements of them to feature in our own ones. Fashion is a huge area in our lives, we love being self sufficient and making clothes/accessories ourselves so that they can mean more to us, and look exactly how we want, also excluding the huge price tag. Cookie loves all things glittery, pastel, fluffy, Disney and Fairy Kei. Her fashion icon is Neeko, singer of the band Seishun Shampoo, and she likes big eyes, big lashes and big heads! Kunoichi likes lace, frills, ribbons, bows, platforms and odd contacts, she wears Gothic Lolita and looks up to Emilie Autumn. We both have been besotted with J-Fashion for many years now and would love to continue in this romantic experience with it and will welcome any one new to it with warm, open arms! "

Please check out their tumblr and their shop Surgeon Strawberry.

Iku is an adorable girly from the UK and her sense of style is brilliant. What always stands out most to me is her amazing eye makeup which makes her eyes look huge and sparkly! Her hair is another standout feature being two tone, pink and orange/brown. Very cute!

"My "style" is a mish mash of lots of Japanese styles such a Visual kei,Gyaru and new street fashion, fused with 90's british style. But it also changes with my mood each day. I'm influenced by bands such as Fuzylog, Peep4U, Seishun Shampoo and Mix Speakers Inc. I also find Link
inspiration in cartoons and manga Devils. Basically a mix between creepy, cute and sparkly, just as long as it's freaky and fun. (●´ω`●)ゞ"

Something that ties Cookie and Iku's styles together is their love of Neeko and Seishun Shampoo, much like myself! Check out images of Neeko for some amazing ideas!

Now, in the UK, lolita is an increasingly popular style, and one person who I really admire for her unique take on lolita is Isabelle. Being primarily into
traditional gothic styles, she seamlessly mixes lolita dresses and black gothic platform boots, black lipstick and sweet accessories. She really is a chameleon of lolita fashion, and she looks lovely in every style she wears.

"Ever since I whiled away hours looking at fruits magazine aged 12 I've sought inspiration from various Japanese subcultural fashions. In short, I realised trad goth could be mixed to its hearts content and be so much more. My love of Japanese fashion, especially lolita, led me to research wider aspects of Japanese culture and, being intrigued by what I found, I came to study it as a degree! I'm lucky enough to have gone to Japan many times, including studying at a Japanese University- it's always so exciting to see new styles emerge form the street which is always happening in Japan- perhaps more than anywhere else. The unusual shapes found in Comme des Garçons and the positively decadent frills of Baby the Stars Shine Bright have not just fuelled my shopping habit but also my desire to make things myself. However, I'm not only interested in Japanese fashion- I also love Black Metal, Blythe Dolls, Vivienne Westwood, Tibet and 80s industrial music- to name but a few. I'm now working towards creating my own brand and hope I can become a part of what has given me so much joy."

Isabelle has a
tumblr and a lookbook, please take a peek!

Here we have Rosie, a neon alien who works in Cyberdog Camden who has a flair for colour co-ordination. Her super spacey style is reminiscent of old Fruits magazines and videogames such as Space Channel 5 and Super Galdelic Hour.

"I'd say influence wise, a lot of early Cyber and Decora/Fairy Kei is what I'm pretty much addicted to. :D I just like to be bright candy coloured and futuristic, I dress to make myself happy, and if I feel comfortable with neon hair and huge platforms, so be it. ;D

Favourite models, I don't really have many, Ayumi who used to Model for Takuya Angel is a big favourite though, and a lot of the KERA models.

My favourite Japanese brands are 6% DOKIDOKI, Takuya Angel, Fötus, Chocomint, Swimmer, Spank, too many to count!"

Rosie's tumblr can be found here.

Now, I know I've featured Tania before, but her style is too good to overlook! She always looks flawless in her gorgeous and adorable co-ords.

"Style: Sweet, Classic, Gothic Lolita and Otome-kei
Influences: I get my influences from GLB, KERA and period fashion. I love the fashions in the court of Marie Antoinette and the Georgian period however that doesn't properly reflect the kind of style I wear even though some of the aesthetics were drawn from them. To me dressing up in frilly clothes is a lot of fun especially if you put your own style into it and not adhere strictly to the 'Lolita rules' as I see them more as guidelines. Lately I've been wearing more otome-kei which has simpler lines and less frilly but still retains the femininity and cuteness of Lolita fashion.
Lifestyle: Tea parties, picnics, figure skating in the winter! "

Have a look at Tania's tumblr and lookbook.

Lastly we have some super cute UK based gals for you, Emilie and Alice. The founders of Pink Marble, these gals are proving that you don't have to be Japanese to look great in gal styles, and you can love VK at the same time! The common connection between the members of the galsa is their love of VK, and why not?!

Alice is a super sweet, softly spoken gal who has impeccable taste. After recently buying herself an “ugly and amazing” gold and leopard fur bag, I can see her style evolving and blooming. Since she's only been dressing gal (properly) for a few months or so, she's still finding her feet, her own particular style, but she's looking great!

You may remember me featuring Emilie a while ago in our Hyper Japan coverage, dressed in aristocratic/classic lolita, but she has made the move into gal- she stated in one of her videoblogs that she was having a sort of internal struggle as she dressed lolita, but relgiously read Egg magazine. Having made the move to gal, she has blossomed.

Check out Alice's blog here, Emilie's here and the gal-cir here~

I really wish I could have featured more people, but I think I'd run out of room! Instead, here is a short rundown of some of my other favourite western, Japanese fashion fans;

Thank you for all of your support over the last year, it's much appreciated! Remember, submissions and suggestions can be sent to my email at missescupcakeface@hotmail.co.uk and if you have used any of the tutorials, I'd love to see photos of those too!
While I'm away, please keep an eye on my tumblr for news and updates!
