HearJapan’s week of donation to Japan and six months of continuing efforts
Yokohama, Japan — March 24th, 2011 — After a week of generous support
from HearJapan customers we are proud to announce that we have been
able to donate $750 to Japan Platform to aid in the Japanese
earthquake relief effort.
One of the reasons HearJapan chose to give to Japan Platform was their
ability to act immediately to the changing situation. After delivering
huge amounts of diapers, toilet paper, heating and cooking fuel, rice,
fruits and many other items, they got word that women were in dire
need of menstrual sanitary products. They quickly mobilized and got
those supplies to the people who needed them.
There have been many reports of donation fraud, even among the biggest
organizations, so HearJapan wanted to assure those donating that their
money was going directly to those in need. We’ve included the full
receipt for the donation, as well as a look into how the donations
have been put to work (and maybe brush up on your Japanese reading
skills), in the links below.

All of this happened while there were rolling blackouts across Japan.
Customers kept at it, purchasing music despite the outages killing our
servers during portions of the day. Everyone helped make a significant
difference.
But this is not the end. Not by a long shot. Japan has a very long
healing process ahead of it and HearJapan is dedicated to the ongoing
effort. To the end, we will continue to donate 5% of all of our sales
for the next 6 months.
We hope that, working together, we can return those areas hit hardest
by the disaster to their former glory. Our sincere thanks to all who
contributed this past week, and to all of those who will continue to
help in the months to come. Thank you for your help in spreading the
word.
