J-Rock Spotlight

j-rock dailies
It's November 26th, the day after Thanksgiving. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving with their loved ones (be it family, friends or anyone in between) and got to eat some delicious foods. Anyway, today, I bring you the J-Rock Daily. So read on past the jump to see what was chosen today.

Band of the Day

--The band of the day is AWOI. AWOI is an Osaka based Visual Kei band consisting of: Otogi on vocals, Shou and SIN on guitar, Saki on bass, and Ryo on drums. AWOI's main attraction is not only their entrancing, melodic beats, but the hauntingly beautiful vocals. This band is definitely one of those bands that could become a guilty pleasure.

New Band of the Day

--Remming is the new band of Sou, the ex-vocalist of Lolita23q. They were introduced to you all this weekend. Skimming through their official homepage is all too fun, it's a funky, yet simple site that goes along with their music. It's good to see Sou back and out doing some music, it would be way too sad to see that talent go to waste. I'm pretty positive that most people are anticipating what this band can bring to the table.

Jrocker of the Day

--The Jrocker of the Day spot goes to Kaya. If you haven't heard of Kaya, you've probably been a shell your whole life (I've never met someone who doesn't know who Kaya is, whether or not they like him). Kaya, to me, is simply amazing. Not because he's visually beautiful, but he carries himself with such posture and elegance, it's utterly mindboggling. Not only does he give off an aura of elegance, but within his discography, there is literally a song for everyone emotion and situation you might be feeling and that to me makes an artist's music beautiful.

Lyrics of the Day

The rain washes everything clean away
You can come whenever you like, I'll be there
A goodbye kiss, the shy stray cat runs quickly across the road
Brake noise, a moment's happening
The body was heavy, the sky was beautiful
And a flower that looks like you is forever dancing sadly
『空と糸/Sora to Ito/Sky and Thread 』 - ムッく(MUCC)
--MUCC happens to be one of my favorite bands of all time (despite however many haters there are) and their music is always so beautifully written, it doesn't matter if Tatsurou-san or Miya-san write it. . .it's always beautiful. 『空と糸/Sora to Ito/Sky and Thread 』 is by far one of my favorite songs and one of the best examples of beautiful lyrics in all its perfection. I definitely recommend you all giving it a listen.

Quote of the Day

"Moreover, photographs are something big and there is this importance of tools to convey the pictures. It is the same as with sounds, there are points where there can be absolutely no compromises."
Ruki, Arena 37°C Special 7 2009
--As usual, interviews with Ruki are always interesting and always has a hint of vague, intelligence. There's also something he says, that just sticks. This specific answers was what stuck with me throughout the entire interview.

Macro of the Day

Song of the Day

Namida no Mukou - (Steropony)

Live of the Day

『存在証明/Sonzai Shoumei/Proof of Existence』 - ワンオクロック(ONE OK ROCK)

Music Video of the Day

『ケセラ:セラ/Que Sera: Sera/What Will Be: Will Be』 - 愛狂います(Aicle)
--I love Aicle so much. They're cute, yet their lyrics are so powerful. They remind me of Antic Cafe, so much. . .which is good. I'm not even going to go into a long description as to why this song is great. . .just watch the video.
