Amai Furiku?
- The sweet freak's guide to VK fashion

This month; a little bit about art thieving stores and how to find the perfect shoes for your outfit. But first; here's a quick preview of one of the cutest collaboations I have seen in a while. Here is the latest collaboration from Baby The Stars Shine Bright and Gloomy Bear! A cute little set of matching co-ordinates to brighten your wardrobe in the gloomiest way possible. I really wish I had enough money for this!

It recently came to my attention that the highstreet store New Look had started selling a top with a picture of Uruha from the Gazette on it.

I'm not exactly a big fan, but it surprised me slightly. Upon further inspection, it is as we thought, a case of art theft.

I looked for the original photo on google and came across a drawing on the art site, DeviantArt.
One of the artists on the site had drawn a nice picture of Uruha and posted it up for all to see.

Designers at New Look must have seen the drawing, of course not knowing who Uruha is, and thought it'd look nice on a top. Sure enough, it doesn't look bad. The problem is, they didn't ask the artist's permission, nor Uruha himself! We can only imagine they thought it was an imaginative drawing of a fictional pretty young girl! Within a short space of time, New Look put the top into production and started selling them online for £14.99/$23. It appears as though they may have taken it down now as searching for it, I can't find it. However, if you access it through the link I found on Tumblr, it is still up running and selling out!
They are now low on stock of size 18 tops so hundreds are already out there being worn by possibly clueless individuals. I must say, I found it quite funny at first. The idea of a mainstream, very generic, highstreet store selling a top with a picture of a J-rocker on it is unbelieveable and almost a little silly. But the more I think about it, the more I see this sort of art theft happening. This is the first time I've ever seen a store steal an image of a J-rocker or something/someone less mainstream, but even so, it happens far too often.
Personally, if I was a fan, I'd buy the shirt, wear it with pride (it's a very good picture!) and then complain to New Look, ask for my money back and send it to the original artist. If this would work, I don't know, but it would be interesting to find out!

On a better note, this month we also are taking a look at shoes. Shoes are something we all wear (or at least most of us...) and sometimes it can be hard to find the perfect pair of shoes to finish off your outfit. Particularly when dressing VK or other Japanese styles, in Western countries, it can be hard to find good shoes.

I would say that it's a good idea trying to find a pair of shoes that goes with most of your clothes as a sort of back up plan; your "go to" shoes. For me, my go to shoes will always be my battered and bruised Gordon Jacks! After finding these, it's a good chance to branch out and find other shoes!

First of all, I'd reco mmend looking through the Japanese online shoe store, Double Decker. The site can be viewed in both Japanese and English.

http://www.d-decker.jp/en_pc/index.php

The store has shoes that are very reasonably priced at $49 a pair in most cases. They have a constant offer of buying two pairs for $90 as well! The problem with Japanese shoes though, is the sizing. Often, the sizes will ony go up to about 26 tops which in US and UK sizes is only about 10/7 in ladies sizes respectively.

Many westerners have much larger feet so it can be difficult finding Japanese shoes.
For similar styles as Double Decker, I would recommend the UK/US company TUK. I have a lot of shoes bought from them and all are comfortable, long lasting and look awesome! The popular creeper style is a classic and fits across a lot of styles from 1950's greaser/rockabilly to modern day VK. They sell mens, womens and unisex shoes in a range of styles, colours and sizes to suit a broad range of people. In fact, in our last post, you can see me and Charles both wearing TUK creepers.

I have 3 pairs and in those photos I was wearing one normal pink platform creeper and one pink suede and leopard fur platform creeper. Mine are in a unisex size 7(UK) Charles was wearing white low platform creepers in a UK11.

If TUK shoes are a little out of your price range com ing straight from the TUK site, try other sites such as attitudeclothing.co.uk they ship internationally and stock a relatively small, but nice range of TUK shoes as well as other brands.

As well as this, Ebay (again) is a great place for finding amazing deals on shoes.
Another personal favourite of mine is the brand Gordon Jack. It's terribly difficult to find these shoes, but it's completely worth it if you can. Again, try Ebay. I have one pair of pink Gordon Jacks which I wear with practically any outfit. They are comfortable, waterproof, and durable. I have had mine for a good few years now and are second hand. There a few different styles of this brand, but all in the same vein of chunky, stomper style shoes and boots.

There are many other brands similar to this such as Buffalo, Swear (again, Swear is difficult to get hold of these days) and even Roxy made some similar style shoes. As I said before, I pretty much wear them with anything.

If you are after lolita or other Japanese style shoes, but in western sizes, try Ebay, fancy dress stores and even drag queen stores! It is possible to find larger sizes, you just need to look a little harder.

Above all else, my main concern when buying shoes is if they are comfortable and if they're not, I won't get them no matter how wonderful they look. There is nothing wrong with buying a pair of comfy shoes for cheap and then customising them! I know people that will colour in, paint, dye and sew things onto their old or boring shoes.
DIY is ultimately the cheapest way of doing things these days. You end up with something amazing and unique to put on your tootsies and you'll feel great!

Now, for those of you who may find it difficult to co-ordinate your shoes with outfits, here are some photographs to help: I really hope this month's article has been a helpful eye opener for all of you and please, as always, if you have any comments, requests, suggestions etc, comment on the post or email me privately on missescupcakeface@hotmail.co.uk

  1. Awesome as always ^^ I would love to get a pair of those fluffy legwarmers as well as a pair of creepers T_T

I read about the art theft and as an artist I find it really unfair that they would just take an image like that. The fact that it's a pic of an actual person makes it worse.

    Hopefully it's not gonna continue

  2. Fluffy legwarmers are amazing =3 great when it's a little chilly and plus, they look really good :) there are so many places that sell them very cheaply these days ^^

The art theft issue is really terrible; in this case, it's almost as though they stole twice as they didn't ask permission from Uruha OR the artist that drew the picture (which is fan art, so maybe that's stolen 3 times?!)

It'd be great to make people more aware of how much damage art theft does.

  3. What ya think regarding bright mens footwear? Truly, I'm not really talking something unique regarding bright adult men, although I need someone to learn as soon as to have on bright men's shoes. In case we take bright coloration, it might be considered as some sort of coloration that includes a exclusive quality.

  4. I would greatly suggest understanding the basics of men's fashion and put this knowledge into a permanent mens fashion style. There would not be anymore worry about following trends but perpetually looking stylish.https://www.luxtime.su/hermes-handbags/birkin

  6. Indian fashion has changed with each passing era. The Indian fashion industry is rising by leaps and bounds, and every month one witnesses some new trend or the other. India's economic growth also had a major impact on fashion trends. The ever increasing purchasing power of the middle class has brought fashion within easy reach of the commoner. Evolving work standards have also increased the scope of fashion in the country as there is a striking need for comfortable clothing during long working hours. maxi skort romper

  7. An online business isn't for everyone. It takes hard work and dedication to make a success of it. But the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. Working from anywhere with a laptop and never having to work for anyone else again are two of my most compelling reasons to keep working hard at my home based business. Eco-Friendly Apparel
